Suzie and new family

Suzie was adoptred by Joel and Diane Carter and her two Fur brothers Romeo (also from UYR) and brother Tedd Poodle. They are a very lucky family to have been given the chance to add Suzie their family as she is a real sweetheart.

Cinnamon (I used to be Petunia) is thankful for UYR. My FM showed me it was ok to be loved. She helped my mom by do a quick adoption and even helped with the long ride home to meet my dad and fursister Sweetie. Oh yeah and my Big brother. LOL My grandma loved meeting my FM and FFurbrother Logan. My human family kinda look like giants. I am learning about toys, stairs and grass. I love the backyard :) I have met my vet and he said I was going to adapt well with Sweetie. She was a rescue too. The girl Mandi who grooms Sweetie and me says I am so cute and lucky. Mom says she loves my kisses and even the sound of my voice. Next mom hopes to see a tail wag. So my mom and dad say thank you FM. You are special part of UYR.

We got double the pleasure when we adopted our two little yorkies

Jezebel and Matilda. These two little girls have come into our home

and quickly made it their own. They love to go for long walks, play

with their toys and of course they want lots of cuddle time. I was

amazed at how simple the adoption process was and how quickly we got

our two little girls. I only wish I could adopt a few more. If the

girls could talk I know they would say " Thanks United Yorkie Rescue!

Thanks for giving me another chance and saving my life".

Princess is really a Princess, now

Princess has been renamed Zoe.

We left for New York 2 weeks after adopting her. She travels very well in her seat (I got one like yours) and spends a lot of time looking out (although I'm not sure what she is seeing). We were making trips to the mountains about every other day and she looks forward to going. She doesn't go on the hiking trails, but we walk around on the flat ground while Jon does the trails.

She and the other girls are getting along very well. I just started feeding them out of one big bowl rather than individual bowls. It saves me a great deal of work. I had the problem that Sophie and Sadie knew Zoe was getting special stuff on her food, so of course, I had to give special to all. I'm sure Sophie and Sadie realize that they have Zoe to thank for the special food and now love her even more.

We think Zoe may be a bit senile, but we don't love her any less, after all, we are on our way to senility ourselves. Also, our vet thought she was closer to 12 years old rather that 8. She has a lot of spring in her walk, like a youngster. She can go up most of the stairs, but occasionally will roll down, then get up and try again. She is very resilient.

I am so glad that this worked out for us. She is so sweet and adorable. She looks very cute in her new sweater, which she will need tonight when the temperatures drop to 33 degrees with frost warnings.

Chelsey has a new home

Hi, here is Tia's Happy Tails story.

Tia came to us because of a phone call from her foster mom. She told me she had just gotten a tiny little 2 1/2 pound female dog who had been tossed out by her breeder because she refused to make puppies. FM hoped to have her placed in a home with another little dog and since we have two, one from UYR (Libby) she thought Tia would be a good fit. Not sure we needed another dog I told her I would get back to her. After checking her out on UYR and talking to my husband we decided we already loved her and wanted her.

She had only been with her FM for a short time when we took her. So many changes in such a short time for such a little thing that at first she was very skittish, afraid of us, and not sure about eating, or where to potty. Her long tail stayed between her legs for days. But thank goodness for Cupcake and Libby--it was instantaneous that she attached herself to them and followed them everywhere.

Tia has been with us for about two months now. Her tail is up and wagging all the time. Though still a little skittish she loves us and wants to be around us all the time. She still is not a big fan of eating, but has put on almost a pound. She adores her fur sisters and has finally figured out how to play with them. It is so funny to watch when two or all three of them have a toy tug of war. Tia hasn't won the game yet, but she is in there trying her best.

She is still learning that people can be kind and loving. She may have had a rough start in life, but we are all making sure that the rest of her life is filled with love, affection, and happiness.

Here's your girl!!! It was so funny trying to catch her still.....she has blossomed and has quite a fabulous little personality. She is so loving....LOVES to play with toys.....LOVES to CUDDLE have her tummy rubbed.....loves to take walks, sleep & eat! She is nothing but pure joy!!! She is getting stronger physically & such a happy little girl. You can see her playing with one of her favorite toys....a white teddy....and a pic where I am rubbing her tummy. She is a treasure Kandice and we can't thank you enough! And I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking her in & showering her with your love so that she could have a second chance.......she is a fighter & survivor......& a very special doll baby!

Jolie has a new home

It took no time at all for Jolie's inner diva to emerge. She is the social butterfly of the neighborhood, likes everyone she meets (except for cats) when she goes for her walks.

Such a smart one too ! This little diva knows how to get what she wants and let us know when she doesn't like something.

She is learning to play with toys and ask for treats. Jolie's best feature is that happy-happy tail. It wiggles and wags constantly, so cute.

United Yorkie Rescue did such a great job in matching us with the perfect yorkie.

We are so honored to be Jolie's people. Jolie is the best dog in the world !

Remy and new family

Remy is thriving in his new home! Remy was scheduled to be put to sleep the morning that two of our volunteers saved him!! Here's an update from his mom:

I had my family reunion yesterday. Matt and I took Remy with us...he was awesome!! Then we stopped at my nephews baseball game with at least 100 people attending. He was friendly and entertaining, not the same dog that came to live with us several weeks ago. I had a friend tell me that a dog can forget bad things that happen to them. I think it must be true!!

Hi! My name is Daisy.

UYR rescued me from 5 yrears in a puppy mill. My foster mom lives in Miami Fla. She was very good and patient with me. I was there for a couple of months. My new mommy saw my picture online at the UYR wesite. She fell in love with JUST ME immediately on sight! I have had a long trip up from Florida. With lots of careful planning and help from many goodhearted people, I now live happily on the coast of Maine!

I have two little brothers. They are miniature poodles. One is black and one is white. We get along splendidly! I have already taken over my brother Brutus's bed and he is fine with that. I feel secure there while watching the family do their thing.

Most of all, I think I love lying on the deck out back while my mommy reads. I listen to the seagulls (we live across from a beach) and love to romp in my big green yard. Sometimes I sit and smell the pine air and just stare at the beautiful Camden hills behind our house. It is certainly a different life than living in a cage. All these sights and sounds are new to me and I like them all! I think the rest of my life with this family that I love and who loves me will make those five years just fade in my memory. My new family is very patient with me as I learn good habits. Thank you UYR for bringing me this far. I can't wait to see what each new day brings.

Muppet and new mom

Muppet came into United Yorkie Rescue as a stray. She was not considered adoptable by the shelter and a very caring vet tech contacted us to get her into rescue. Muppet, despite her health issues, was a very loving and sweet little girl. After her spay and post-operative care, she was adopted by a wonderful family and now has two fur-brothers, Opie, a wide-eyed dachshund and Cotton, a maltese. Both boys are rescues like Muppet and all three have settled into a great life together. Here is what Muppet's new forever mom shared with her foster mom the first night of her adoption:

"Just thought that I would let you know that Muppett is doing just fine! She was very upset for about 15 minutes after you left, but then she settled down and now she is attached to me (which I love of course). I did have to put her little bed (it has a grippy, non slip bottom) on the sofa table temporarily while I made myself lunch because she didn't want me out of her sight.

When we introduced Cotton he was being too bossy so Tim put him in a submissive position on the floor. Since then Cotton has been an angel and is just ignoring Muppett. I've attached some pictures for you. As you can see, they are both on the couch which I thought would take Cotton a couple of days since he likes to lay up there. Several days later, Muppet's new mom said her adjustment has gone well. Her personality is coming out and she is just a goofy cutie. She and Opie were playing tug-of-war together, it was so cute!

Thanks again for driving her all the way to us! How lucky the rescue dogs are to have people like you!

Rascal and new family

6/9/11: New Mom and Dad, Jim and Lucy, and his new sissy, Talulah

I officially adopted Dorothy in June after fostering her since March, I truly fell in love with this feisty little girl!

Dorothy made herself comfortable from the moment she entered my home. She became fast friends with my dog Gus, a 25 lb. Terrier Mix, who instantly feel in love with her. These two play non-stop and when they aren't playing Dorothy is bossing him around.

This little 6 lb. pistol has changed my life in more ways that I can express through words, however, it's simple to say that she is the funniest, bossiest, cutest, craziest, lovable, charming, little dog I've ever met. I don't remember my home without she and Gus in it and I intend on enjoying them both for a very long time.

In my care she has thrived! After one more evaluation she will be an official Therapy Dog working in hospitals. Dorothy accompanies me to work often, I own a pet care company, and she joins me at the park with all the big kids. She has been fitted for her own set of wheels, when from the second she was placed on them, she hasn't looked back. Believe it or not, she is a swimmer and a GREAT one too! Of course she only swims when Mom is in the pool with her; and last but not least, D will accompany me in September (in Seattle, Washington) for a 10 day Certification I will be completing in Canine Water Therapy, she's being worked into my program!

As you can see, Dorothy has an amazing new life and is having a ball. I will forward you some updated pictures of her which will include her working with me, playing with her brother and on her new wheels.

Romeo Boy's, First Three Days ...

thought I would let you know how Romeo did his 1st day in his new home. When you first left he went to the back gate looking for you. then later when we went out he saw all the squirrels out in the yard and was chasing them along the fence. he is such a quiet little dog he will fit in real nice with our quiet senior lifestyle. he and tedd are doing well together. he never barked at all until I left for work this morning , Joel said when I left he barked a little and scratched at the door. Romeo, Tedd, and I went to the park before work this morning and took a little walk, he seemed to enjoy it ,more squirrels in the park.well that's all for now I will keep you posted on how he is doing ,Diane

Hi! Wendy, Day 2 went well. Took a walk in the park,visited with the girls at the vets and with the girls at work. He met my grandkids Rylee 11 and Ethan 9. Everyone loves him as much as we do. Joel said he wouldn't get attached to another dog, too late. Romeo has adopted him!! He has a lot of the quiet qualities that Muff had. Joel said he thinks there might be a little white poodle in there. Maybe Muff sent him to us!!! talk to you soon
