Jackson found his happily ever after.
|
Jackson
2-12-22 Jackson was adopted today. Jackson was owned by an elderly man who had to go into a nursing home and was not allowed to take Jackson with him. A kind neighbor offered to take Jackson into her home so that he wouldn't have to go into the shelter. She knew that a shelter was not the best place for such a sweet little guy. And so Jackson became a United Yorkie Rescue pup.
Jackson is a very sweet boy who loves to be with his person. He is almost perfect. He loves belly rubs and going on walks, and he loves to play fetch with his toys. Being an 11 year old fellow he has his few medical issues, but that doesn't stop Jackson from loving his long walks, playing with his toys, and with other dogs. He is a happy fellow who just loves to snuggle and sit with his mom and dad.
Today Jackson got a wonderful new family. He has a wonderful new mom and dad who will take him on long walks, play with him, and give him all the love, cuddles, and snuggles he will ever want. Jackson will spend the rest of his days living his best life with his wonderful new mom and dad.

Bowie with his new mom/dad and sister Molli
|
Bowie Jones
ADOPTED! 01/15/2022: Sweet Bowie Jones was adopted today 4-1/2 months after he came into UYR. Bowie was surrendered by his previous owner to a local vets office to be euthanized because he had heartworms. No heartworm preventative was ever given to Bowie. The vet reached out to UYR and asked if we would bring him into our foster care program and of course we said YES!
This little fella only had 6 teeth left in his mouth and not only were they badly decayed, he has two oral nasal fistulas that had to be repaired during his dental. He needed updated vaccinations and a neuter before he could begin heartworm treatment as well. Bowie tolerated his heartworm treatment like a champ hooray.
This little boy was so scared and timid when he landed in his foster home. Foster Mom believed that he had either been crated his whole life, or perhaps kept outside all the time. He was not house-trained and crouched low to the floor when anyone approached him it is likely that he was also abused his entire life which is profoundly sad. No one had taken the time to socialize Bowie and show him a happy doggie life.
Today his adoptive parents and yorkie sister Molli made a 15 hour round trip to adopt Bowie. They are so excited and Bowie will have a big sister as a playmate. He will continue to know nothing but love, a comfy bed, compassionate parents and kindness the rest of his life. Just what we want for every one of our foster dogs. Have a Happy Life Bowie Jones!

Teena Rose
1/11/22 Teeny Tiny Teena was adopted today. This little 4 pound sweet fur baby went to her forever home today. Imagine this--a 4-pound tiny little dog alone on the street. Was she lost, abandoned, thrown away, who knows? What we did know was that she was certainly homeless. That's what happened to Teena Rose. Teena Rose spent her first week in the shelter waiting for someone to want her and come get her. Of course, no one came, no one wanted her. Well, United Yorkie Rescue did. Teena needed a dental very badly. She is not spayed and has some small mammary masses.
Teena's teeth were so bad she lost them all. She had her spay and the mammary tumors removed. She was also treated for an ear and a urinary tract infection. It took a while for the infections to be treated and the surgeries to heal. While she was at her foster home her foster parents found out what a great little pup she really was. She was happy, and friendly, and affectionate, and playful.
Finally, Teena Rose was ready for her forever home. Today that happened. She has a wonderful mommy and daddy who are home most of the time. She has fur siblings to hang with and best of all the promise of all the love, care, kindness, and attention she would ever want. She will never find herself alone and on the streets again. Teena Rose found her forever home and her forever happiness.

Toby
1/9/22 Toby was adopted today. A month before Toby came to us he was hit by a car. His owners brought Toby to the shelter and told the shelter he has a broken pelvis from being hit by a car a month back. They brought him to the shelter to be euthanized. Thankfully the shelter saw a mostly healthy young adult dog who needed a chance. They reached out to their rescue partners and asked for a rescue commitment for him by 5:00pm or he would be euthanized. We couldn't let that happen. That day was not going to be Toby's last day of life, and so Toby became a United Yorkie Rescue dog, and like all UYR dogs we committed ourselves to do whatever is necessary that can be done to fix him.
Toby had a broken pelvis, a broken toe and a severely damaged leg. There was nothing that could be done for his pelvis since the bones were already mending, though not correctly, after a month. What we could do for him was take care of what we could. He had a toe amputated as well as the rear leg that was beyond repair. Toby took a while to heal since he went through what the surgeon said was phantom limb syndrome and had to wear a cone to keep from gnawing on the area where his missing limb and toe once were. Then it happened-he was ready for his forever home.
Today Toby went to his forever home with his forever mom. She is so excited to have this sweet boy who is not only leash trained and house trained, he is also as loving as any dog can be. He will have a lot of friends in his new community and get to go on lots of fun walks. His forever mom will take him everywhere she goes, even to the restaurant. He will have a nice little porch to hang out in to catch the sun and so much love. Never again will he be neglected. He will know nothing but kindness. and care, and love for the rest of his life.

So Happy I finally have a Furever home!
|
Annabella
I/9/22 Annabella has been adopted and is already very comfortable in her new home! It was love at first sight between her and her new Mommy and Daddy. While usually a little shy when she meets new people, she responded to them right away during her Meet/Greet and even jumped onto her new Mommy's lap - something her foster Mom has never seen her do.
Annabella was an owner surrender and only suffered from neglect as her former owners couldn't really care for her in the way she deserved. Her foster mom said she is the easiest dog she has ever fostered!
Annabella is happy to report that she is going to be a snowbird, spending her Winters in Florida and her Summers in New York, while enjoying a road trip to get there. She enjoys her car rides so this is perfect for her.
Congratulations Annabella on finding your Furever home and we wish you Happy Tails on the road ahead!

Scout finally getting the life he deserves!
|
Scout
1/08/22 Scout was adopted today!! Sadly, Scout did not receive the upbringing that he deserved. He had been neglected and came to UYR with a history of being food-deprived. Some of Scout's behaviors indicated that he was also abused. While it did take some time for Scout to let his guard down, he became playful with his adopted family and enjoyed daily walks and lots of snuggle time. Scouts foster family had grown to care deeply about this little fella and will miss him greatly.
However, Scout now has a perfect forever home. Scouts mom and dad will be home with him all day to give him all the love he needs. An avid squeaky toy lover, his parents have promised to keep a supply of toys so Scout will always have unlimited squeakies. Scouts parents have previous experience in owning a Yorkie that had experienced trauma and abuse. Scouts dad is most excited to have a napping partner.
We are so happy for Scout. He is finally getting the life he truly deserves.

Milo
12/23/21 Milo was adopted today. Milo found his perfect forever home and family. This adorable little guy came to his foster home very sad and timid. He didn't want to leave his kennel for 3 days. Slowly he learned that he could trust his foster family and came out of the crate, joined his foster brothers for meals, and quickly grew to love his foster mom and dad. Within a short time, he even started playing with toys and with the other dogs. After Milo's neuter he was ready for his forever family. Today that happened. He went to his forever home with his forever family. He has a mom and dad who will be home with him most of the time. He will be the center of their world. All the attention and love will be Milo's and he couldn't be happier. His forever mom and dad have promised to do everything for Milo, take care of all his needs no matter what they are. Milos foster parents are so happy for Milo and know he found his happily forever after for ever and ever.
